Puleng Customer Base Set to Benefit from EMC-Aveksa Acquisition

The recent acquisition of Aveksa, a leader in business-driven Identity and Access Management (IAM), by EMC Corporation is a positive development for the customer base of Puleng Technologies, reseller and service provider for Aveksa in South Africa and a certified partner of RSA, The Security Division of EMC.
Muhammed Mayet, IT Security Director of Puleng Technologies, says the acquisition will enable Puleng to provide a more holistic solution to customers on a single platform. "In addition to positively impacting how we build solutions for the market, this development also means that all our support will be sourced from one vendor – market leader RSA," he says

Puleng Technologies is a next-generation IT Service Provider, specialising in the design, deployment and support of complex Service Infrastructure and Automation systems, with a strong track record and a team of professionals focused on "Project Success". Puleng's specialist Security division enjoys a market leadership position in developing Identity Lifecycle, Roles Governance and Risk Management solutions with a highly trained local team (40 Security Professionals) managing over 5 million user identities for many of South Africa's most respected companies.
EMC announced its acquisition of Aveksa on 8 July 2013, and Aveksa will operate within the RSA Security Division as part of RSA's Identify Trust Management product group, bringing leading technology and expertise that will help RSA deliver innovative new solutions to identity and access management challenges across enterprise, cloud and mobile access use cases.

Stephan le Roux, District Manager of RSA, The Security Division of EMC Southern Africa, says: "Together, RSA and Aveksa will help give organisations the ability to automate the complete identity lifecycle of users from a business-driven perspective, helping turn traditional IAM systems into more agile, intelligent and scalable solutions.
With Aveksa, customers have a unified dashboard to manage, control, and deliver access, while consistently enforcing identity and access policies across the enterprise and cloud, at a granular and business level."

Over the past three years, Puleng has developed an experienced team of skilled Aveksa resources, and the company has been building up its RSA team for the past 18 months.
"This opportunity to bring these teams together across the respective solution sets will make the world of difference to our clients from many perspectives – deployment, architecture and support," says Mayet. He continues to say that "There are also extensive benefits from a compliance point of view, and we are confident that customers will derive cost savings and efficiency gains from the ability to streamline operations, onboard users timelessly, and free up their engineers from mundane tasks such as reviewing access rights and entitlements."

Aveksa solutions help define rich user profiles and increase the convenience of managing user identities, allowing customers to flexibly enforce security whenever and wherever users interact with corporate data and resources. The line of business is given easy and secure access to applications, while enabling them to take accountability and responsibility for making access decisions, within the controls, processes, and policies defined by the information security organisation.

Similar to RSA, Aveksa solutions are deployed by customers of all sizes in financial services, healthcare, retail, energy/utility, telecommunications, transportation and manufacturing to solve a wide range of identity management challenges. Aveksa is a comprehensive solution – it spans multiple, heterogeneous IT systems for both on-premise and SaaS systems, and is designed to be easily integrated into an enterprise's infrastructure.

Aveksa aligns with RSA's intelligence-driven security strategy, leveraging insight from roles, processes, and security-oriented Big Data to enable better evaluation, prioritisation, detection and response to real-time threats. For example, Aveksa's ability to provide rich identity context could be used to enhance situational awareness within the RSA Security Analytics solution.

"Aveksa products also complement RSA's strong authentication, access management and federation solutions portfolio," says Mayet. He believes that "Together, RSA and Aveksa have the opportunity to fuse notions of authentication and identity as part of an Adaptive Identity platform, leveraging Big Data analytics to transform identity assurance and access controls to ensure only legitimate users have appropriate access to sensitive corporate information."
